Volunteer

Ways to Volunteer!

Volunteers are a vital part of Music Orchard Richmond (MOR) and there are many ways to get involved! We welcome volunteers of all ages, however, to volunteer with our After-School Program, you must be at least 13 years of age.

Practice Mentors!

A core tenet of MOR’s After-School Program is mentorship for our students in the form of Practice Partners. While music experience is preferred, it is not required. Mentors dedicate one or more hours per week to working in person with students in MOR’s after-school program; using materials from the students’ lessons, they practice with them to work on that week’s assignments, serving as their practice mentor/partner. This program is a great way to get experience working with music students while serving the community. Note: high school and college students - ask us about using this program for service and credit hours! Mentors may not be paired with a student that matches their primary instrument.

Requirements:

  • commit to a consistent weekday afternoon for mentorship during the semester you are signed up for

  • be early to each session

  • be prepared by reviewing the notes from that week's lesson

  • miss no more than two weeks in the semester

  • if you must miss, inform MOR administration immediately so that someone can cover your mentorship session
