David Garcia, Oboe
Oboist David Garcia joined the Virginia Symphony Orchestra beginning with the 2016 season. He has also performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony, and the New Orchestra of Washington among many others.
Garcia has also been heard in concerts at the Library of Congress, the Phillips Collection, the Mexican Cultural Institute, and during the summer at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. In addition, he spent a few years touring the United States and Canada with the 25th anniversary tour of Les Misérables.
As an educator, he has been on the faculty of the University of Richmond, the Music and Mindfulness Camp in Virginia, in the public school system in Texas, and also has taught privately.
Garcia received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory where he was a student of Katherine Needleman. Previous teachers include Erin Hannigan, John Snow, and Robert Atherholt.
